Are Soul Mates Real?

If soul mates are real, I believe there are more than one for each person. It is hard for me to believe there is just one random person floating in the universe, thats a perfect match for someone else.

Relationships take work, and alot of compromising. So if you find your soul mate, shouldnt they be a perfect fit? I have spoken to several people about it, and my opinion has wavered a few times. Firstly, I have found that the definition of a soul mate varies from person to person. But at the end of the day, I do not believe they exist.
