Hello, Foxy's...I missed you

OHMUHGODDESS, it feels great to be back.

How is everybody? Did you miss me? I want to thank you all for your letters, DMs, and texts. I saw them all. I just wasn't in my "respond" era. But I saw them all and appreciate the LOVE!!!

Yes, I am okay. I was fighting a battle alone and was losing. So I had to call in some heavy artillery - backup.

I was a bit hesitant to share the fact that I was enduring a mental battle. It's not easy to be vulnerable publicly when you're not at your best. But a few days before I decided to share, I was inspired by one of my favorite singers Sy Smith.

She is a breast cancer survivor. As personal as her journey was, she kept us posted as she endured her double mysectomy and reconstructive surgery. I already admired her as a fellow performer. But the courage she had to give us an all-access pass to her journey has made me give her a higher level of respect for her. If you haven't blessed yourself with her talent, check her out; as well as her stories on facebook where she continue to speak of her journey cancer.

And as I prepared to end my self-imposed social media hiatus, I came across another warrior. My friend, Erika, is a breast cancer survivor. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October, she opened her shirt and bared her beautiful tattoo that she received after her double mastectomy. Her willingness to be vulnerable for the sake of others is paramount.

I can't say that I am ready enough to share my entire story of what landed me in such a mental crisis. Maybe one day. But for now, I hope I was able to shine a light on the importance of paying attention to our mental health. For a while, I was sweeping things under the rug; when I thought I was being strong. It eventually caught up to me. No, I am not cured. But I have learned how to manage it better.

Anyway, I am so happy to be back in my world. I have so much to share with you about the things I've done during my time away. Though I was absent, I was still grinding. I will see you soon, my friends. Until then, Stay Foxy!
