english speaking singer with a russian speaking band

`kak dila, babies

This question never dies: "Moxie, why don't you speak Russian?" Foxy's love to ask it all the time. Understandable. After several years in a country, picking up the language seems the obvious next step. For me, it was not, and for several reasons. First, I am American singing American music. And it's my band. So it makes more sense for the musicians to learn my language. Plus, we are musicians—we are not scientists or doctors; so we don't need much conversation when it comes to discussing music, really. Also, most Russians prefer I speak English so they can practice and learn. And I live in Moscow, where most people speak or at least understand the language. And finally, maybe the biggest reason: I am lazy and I don't want to learn it. Of course, if I needed it in order to survive, I would learn it. But it hasn't been an issue for me thus far. I do, however, speak Spanish, French, and a little bit of German.
