Lithuanina (part 2 of 3) Trans, Trump, and detroit..

Writer: Karmen MoxieKarmen Moxie

I am not exaggerating when I say that locals ALWAYS want to talk about the LGBT community, Hollywood, or Trump. They are so fascinated by American culture and what makes us tick. The sensitivity surrounding the gay community, for example, is fascinating to them because they do not have these types of debates and discussions in their country. It is America that pioneered the way when it comes to gays fighting for their rights, something that would never be done in other countries, much less speak about sexuality.

Trump, alone, is a fascinating subject that keeps me engaged in talks the most. Because I have no political allegiance to any country, religion, political movement, or sect, it's easy for me to be diplomatic in conversations.

Meet my friend and pianist, Nikolai. He was born and raised in the USSR. For many years he lived in Africa, and now resides with his family in Lithuania. Naturally, subjects about sexuality and openly insulting the president in public were unheard of in his time. Ginturas is the amazing concert event organizer, and the very shy Yelena is a lawyer. The conversations we have while sipping cognac are so entertaining because of their opinions about America. Watching my homeland through the eyes of someone looking in explains why other countries are always watching us. LOL. It's like a series on Netflix. It would be as if Breaking Bad meets House of Cards.

Thank you, Friends, for making my second visit as great as the last one. I still have so much to share from my visit, to Litty . Stay Tuned for Part 3.
