Foxy's, we can always count on Nicki Minaj to put things in perspective when it comes to worrying about what others think (Check the clip below). Can I get an amen?!
Ending a relationship is never easy, especially when it ended in such a tragic manner as mine did. I still have daily crying spells, despite being in a better place. To counteract those negative feelings, I count my blessings every day. Famzi, I literally wake up every morning, look in the mirror, and tell myself at least ten things that I am thankful for.

I've been doing this ritual for years now because it's actually my favorite time of the day. Not only does it boost my self-confidence, but when I find myself feeling like I can't go on, my mind is instantly trained to find the good and focus on my blessings outside of the drama. Like Minaj says, it gives you the confidence to know "you got this - you are bigger than this - you can do this." And most of all, you begin to care less and less what other people think about you.
Here are the top ten blessings I said to myself today in the mirror.
You are a great singer.
You have been self-employed most of your adult life.
You have traveled to over 50 countries so far.
You have a great smile.
You created a lane as the only American jazz singer in all of Russia, without even knowing the language.
Your body is amazing.
Your hair is chemical-free and healthy (It's a Black thing, most won't understand).
You're free! No more verbal abuse.
You have an awesome Mac laptop.
Your bed is so comfortable.

What are your top blessings for today? I am sure the more you name, the more your confidence will grow, and the less you will care what others think. Do you have any rituals that keep you positive? Share with me, because I am definitely open to new and positive ideas, especially as I clean up the debris from a failed relationship. Let's continue to stay confident, and as always - stay foxy!
