текила любовь.. Learning russian thru music

Happy Monday, my Foxies! Did you have a brilliant weekend? I had chill weekend. I did absolutely Nothing ( Moxie sips from the disco goblet..mmm). And I especially wasn't attempting to teach myself Russian again. LMAO! Do you remember when I attempted to teach myself Russian, a couple of years ago? If you follow me on Instagram, you might remember. You would also have seen the poll I created in my stories, asking my Russian Foxies how did i do. Sixty Percent said NO. And I am sure the other 40% was just being nice. Because I find their language difficault in every manner. And I can't imagine my pronunciation was correct, after teaching myself one song.

As cult members, we weren't allowed to date one-on-one. We could only be together if we had a chaperon, or hung out with a group. So my first boyfriend, Phillip, and I created our own language. We taught ourself German and French. When we spoke to each other, our conversation was a mixture of the three languages. For example, we could start the conversation in English, while using conjugated German prepositions and French verbs. It was so cool! To be the only two individuals in the entire world to understand each other was such a flex.

When I got to Russia, I was interested in learning the language. I assumed i would quickly pick it up, the same way i did the other languages. But the Russian language was not that way for me. Unlike most people who move to another country, they're curious about their surroundings. But as a cult survivor, I could care less. I preferred to be left alone. If i can't understand the language, my peace would rarely be disturbed. Then a Russian friend said to me "You are lazy. That's why you don't want to learn."

"Lazy!? Challenged accepted." I said to myself. Alot of my Russian friends have said they learned English through movies and music. And I taught myself Spanish by watching telenovela, close caption, and a Spanish dictionary. My favourite novela was "Amigas y Rivalas." That's when I fell in love with Thalia. Her album "En Extasis" is STILL a vibe. But that's a glass of wine for another blog. Since I am a musician, and have taught myself other languages, this task should be a piece of cake.

"текила любовь" was the most repetitive song I heard at Karaoke in Moscow. When my favourite drag queen, Roxy Hart, performed it at her show, I was hooked. So every morning, I'd practice the song for an hour or two. The first problem I ran into was the alphabet. It has it's OWN will. I had to learn how each letter sounded. Then I had to remember what sound belonged to what letter. Then I looked up each word, to understand what bI was singing. After several weeks of tormenting myself, I recorded the results that you see in the video.

I learned to lessons in this project. One: I have nothing to prove to no one, including myself. It doesn't effectb. my personal everyday life. And if a musician want to work with me, they must adjust to English.I am the one paying them, and not vice versa. So the next time i start a project I don't want to finish, I am quitting unless there is a luxurious gift in the end. Stay Foxy!.
