Karmen and Kids...an odd but natural mix.

Writer: Karmen MoxieKarmen Moxie

The photo to the left was taken after one of my jazz shows. The young man was too shy to ask me for a kiss, so he asked his acquaintance to ask me. OMG!! Swoon! Men are always hitting on me aggressively. It was refreshing to be approached in such a shy, gentlemanly, non-agenda type of way. "That's one of the sweetest kisses I have ever received," I said to him. His face turned beet-red as his friend translated to him what I said. He nervously smiled and reached out to shake my hand. His palms were sweaty, but I didn't dare react, though I wanted to barf at the moist touch. :)

The photo to the right is of an adorable child who followed me as I walked through the crowd, greeting and shaking people's hands. I turned around and stuck out my hand. She didn't take it. And yet she kept following me. I tried a couple more times to shake her hand. But nope. Right before going to the stage, I turned around, and she was still behind me. I tried one more time to shake her hand. No shake, nor word from her. I slowly kneeled down in front of her. She didn't move. So I pulled her towards me slowly for a hug, because I still didn't know what she wanted. She didn't hug me back. But she let me hug her. She stood in front of the stage for the rest of the concert. I guess I can assume she liked me. Or she was just keeping an eye on me because I seemed suspicious. LOL.

The picture to the right is one of the most awkward pics I have ever taken. If I would've stood straight up, my boobs would be eye level. And he felt just as awkward. Check out how he is holding his hand away from my body, for fear of touching me inappropriately. LMAO!

I am always a bit surprised when I see parents bring their kids to my show. I am not necessarily kid-proof. But as a childless Diva, it's nice when a kid occasionally drops into my life for a few moments. Their innocence allows me to let down the guard I usually keep up in the "adult" world. And they keep my kid-at-heart alive. May we never grow up, Foxy's!
