Remember the movie 'Pay It Forward'? The essence of the movie is when someone does a good deed for you, you do it for someone else rather than returning the favor. In the video, I talk about how I paid it foolishly, instead of paying it forward.
I've been shown some undeserved kindness since I have been here in Lithuania. People have assisted me asking nothing in return. So when an acquaintance asked me to loan him some money, I wanted to help out. But I had no extra cash lying around. Like an idiot, I let him borrow against my nest egg. The same nest egg I refuse to let myself touch. I got a dishwashing job so I wouldn't need to touch it. But I let someone else do it? What was I thinking??
This person was my first friend in Lithuania. I never thought he wouldn't pay me back. Plus, I was vibing off the fact that I had been shown undeserved kindness earlier. I just wanted to do the same. Which there is nothing wrong with that. But the lesson is I didn't have to let them borrow my best valuable asset.
Never EVER let anyone borrow your last or very best. It's not required. And learn from me, if you plan on being an expat... dear empaths, it's important to be somewhat selfish with ourselves. But if you happen to make a foolish mistake, don't beat yourself up. It happens. We are human. Even us Foxy people.
Stay FOXY.
