Foxy's, how many of you love to swim? The summer is coming and we're outside! I am proud to say that I am Summer-Body-Ready this year. Woo hoo!! I will be at the beach and at the pool, but only to show off my bomb ass body that I have been working to get for about two years. However, I will not be going in the water.
It causes inflammation in my sinuses and strips all the moisture from my throat.
First of all, EWW! The thought of swimming in unfiltered water, shared by various species and humans with questionable hygiene, has never been appealing to me. Unless I am at a secluded beach, where society has yet to pollute it, I will be sitting on the sand, with a margarita, soaking up the sun. As far as swimming pools, I prefer them over the beach because the germs are somewhat controlled with chlorine. And that's where the problem comes in for me.
Chlorine is a blessing and a curse. It kills the germs in the water, but it also dries out my vocal cords. It causes inflammation in my sinuses and strips all the moisture from my throat. The cold water is hell on my vocal cords, and you Foxys know how much I love my steam sessions for my vocals. Warmth and moisture are my vocal's best friends. Check out this link that did a study of chlorine on a controlled group, especially my fellow-Foxy vocalists. The results may surprise you. Summer is approaching us swiftly. Let's stay safe and Foxy!
